Saturday September 23rd at 8pm there will be a screening Hunting Pignut, an award-winning, gritty, coming of age feature film set in the Newfoundland punk scene. The film stars Taylor Hickson (Deadpool) in what has been called her “astounding breakout performance”, Joel Thomas Hynes (Little Dog, Cast No Shadow) who is “explosively charismatic as Pignut” and an “excellent cast of colourful degenerates.” It is based on the life of writer/director/editor Martine Blue. Martine lived in C-Squat for 7 years and much of the film is inspired by her friends and her time there.
The screening is pay-what-you-can. Martine’s first film, El Evictor, will open the screening. This B horror, which satirizes gentrification of the Lower East Side, was shot in C Squat and stars Eden Brower, Theether Oflichen, Rolly Llewellyn, Jamie Toulon, Daniela Mamon, Wick Sakit, Martine Blue, KD, Meg, Motel El Deluxe, Melissa, Webby, Eugenio, Disco Dave, Evil Shayne, Cricket, Rick, Blue Dawg & Homebum the guinea pig. It was shot by Martine Blue & Mike Scott. Martine will do a Q & A following the screening to talk about making both films.
